The criteria from Proposition 71 for the chairperson of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicinehave led to some nominees that are not exactly household names among the stem cell research community.
According to Prop. 71, the mandatory criteria for a chairperson include a documented history of successful stem cell research advocacy; experience with state and federal legislative processes including medical legislative approvals of standards and/or funding; and lack of employment by or leave from any prospective grant or loan recipient institutions...
