FP-6's Public-Private Networks

The European Vascular Genomics Network is an early example of the centers of excellence that are currently being formalized under the European Commission's Sixth Framework Program. The program, which is designed to integrate EU resources and strengthen the technology transfer process, will give selected companies an early look at technology coming out of participating institutions.

EVGN's mandate is to create a network to exploit the scientific potential of European vascular biology research by building a communication platform, facilitating sharing of data and research tools, and introducing training and exchange programs. The combine will concentrate on three areas within cardiovascular disease: endothelial dysfunction, plaque instability and therapeutic angiogenesis to recover ischemic organ function and reduce heart failure. ...
