Replicon: Rethinking poliovirus

Poliovirus is an enterovirus that replicates primarily in lymphoid tissues, but also has a high affinity for brain and central nervous system tissue. It is this tropism for CNS tissue, with its inherent ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, that Replicon Technologies Inc. is hoping to capitalize on in its development of encapsidated non-replicating poliovirus RNA, or replicons, to treat primary brain cancers and metastases to the CNS.
