Glycart: 'Effect'-ing function

The binding of an antibody to an antigen often has no direct biological effect. Rather, the significant biological effects are a consequence of secondary "effector functions" of antibodies, such as Fc binding affinity and antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), which is mediated by Fc binding.
