Hunt for FDA Commissioner proves tough

WASHINGTON - Vice President Al Gore disclosed to a group of biotech CEOs last week that the Clinton administration has been turned down by at least two of its candidates for FDA Commissioner.

His comments were made during a private meeting with a dozen CEOs and trade association leaders that was held at the Biotech Meeting at Laguna Niguel, the annual retreat in Southern California of 150 biotech CEOs organized by Brook Byers of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and G.
