Illumina news buoys genomics stocks

Complete Genomics Inc. (NASDAQ:GNOM) and Pacific Biosciences of California Inc. (NASDAQ:PACB) gained on Wednesday after Roche (SIX:ROG; OTCQX:RHHBY) made an unsolicited offer to acquire sequencing and microarray company Illumina Inc. (NASDAQ:ILMN) for $44.50 per share, or about $5.7 billion in cash. Complete Genomics rose $0.49 (19%) to $2.99, while Pacific Biosciences was up $0.64 (16%) to $4.59.
