Enterome Bioscience, Synthetic Biologics deal

Enterome and Synthetic Biologics partnered to conduct metagenomic research on the effects of beta-lactam antibiotics on the gastrointestinal microflora, with a goal of establishing a panel of bacterial biomarkers that can be used for diagnostic purposes. Synthetic Biologics will fund a clinical microbiome study in about 100 patients, while Enterome will sponsor the study and use its shotgun metagenomic sequencing technology to profile the human gut microbiome. The study is expected to start next month and complete next half. Enterome retains exclusive rights to commercialize any potential diagnostics/biomarkers and personalized medicine applications.
