President Obama signed into law H.R. 475 to update the existing excise tax to include coverage of any vaccine against seasonal flu. The update now allows the excise tax to apply to quadrivalent seasonal influenza vaccines, which were approved by FDA for the first time last year and will be launched in the 2013-14 flu season. Previously, the law only imposed the excise tax on trivalent seasonal influenza vaccines. The excise tax is used to fund a no-fault compensation program as an alternative to the traditional tort system to resolve vaccine injury claims. ...
