Former CPRIT Chief Commercialization Officer Jerald Cobbs was indicted by a grand jury in Travis County, Texas, related to his handling of an $11 million grant from CPRIT to Peloton Therapeutics Inc. (Dallas, Texas). The indictment alleges Cobbs deceived the institute's executive director and general counsel by failing to disclose that the grant proposal had not been reviewed and approved by proper review committees and that his failure to disclose the information caused the improper award and execution of the grant. The charge is punishable by five to 99 years or life in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. The Travis County District Attorney's office said no charges were considered against Peloton since evidence indicated that they were unaware the grant had bypassed the review committees. ...
