GenPhar infectious, cancer news

GenPhar founder Jian-Yun Dong has been charged with offenses related to the fraudulent use and conversion of more than $3 million in federal grant funds and making illegal campaign contributions to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), according to two grand jury indictments. One indictment claims Dong violated the Federal Election Campaign Act by using money from a foreign national for contributions to Graham's campaign, and by recruiting others to make contributions for Dong after he exceeded his allowed maximum contribution.

The other indictment alleges Dong submitted false claims to federal agencies, converted grant funds for his own use and committed wire fraud. Dong was arrested and subsequently released on $50,000 bond. Dong, who is now CSO of GenPhar, previously served as president and CEO of the infectious disease company. The indictments note that Dong made the illegal contributions without being detected by Graham's campaign staff. GenPhar is developing biodefense vaccines. ...
