Study: interferon betas do not reduce RRMS disability progression

Researchers at the University of British Columbia reported data from a retrospective cohort study showing that exposure to interferon beta in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients was not associated with a reduction in progression of disability. The researchers found that the rate of achieving a sustained Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) score of six points, the primary endpoint, was not significantly greater for patients who received interferon beta compared to control cohorts of RRMS patients who were not exposed to interferon betas.
