Regulus, Biogen Idec in microRNA deal

Regulus Therapeutics Inc. (La Jolla, Calif.) partnered with Biogen Idec (NASDAQ:BIIB) to identify microRNA biomarkers in blood from multiple sclerosis patients. Regulus said the biomarkers could be used to optimize patient selection for clinical trials, monitor disease progression and develop companion diagnostics. Biogen Idec will make an investment in Regulus in addition to upfront and potential milestone payments. Regulus, which made the announcement after market close, said details are not disclosed.
