ColonSentry diagnostic data

A study evaluating blood samples from 377 colorectal cancer patients and 409 healthy controls showed that GeneNews' ColonSentry blood test had 76% sensitivity and 67% specificity for detecting colorectal cancer. Additionally, the test had 69% and 80% sensitivity for detecting stage I/II left- and right-sided lesions, respectively, and 76% and 91% sensitivity for detecting stage III left- and right-sided lesions, respectively. GeneNews said the effectiveness of colonoscopy is mostly confined to tumors on the left side of the colon, with poor detection of right-sided lesions.
