Human Genome falls on Albuferon news

Human Genome Sciences (NASDAQ:HGSI) fell $4.40 (44%) to $5.62 on Wednesday after it said it will change the dosing in two Phase III trials of Albuferon albumin-interferon alpha to treat HCV after an independent DMC raised safety concerns about the studies' higher dose. Human Genome said that patients in the ACHIEVE 1 and ACHIEVE 2/3 trials who were receiving 1,200 ug Albuferon every two weeks will now receive 900 ug every two weeks after the DMC review found that serious pulmonary adverse events were higher in the 1,200 ug arm.
