Collagenase clostridium histolyticum: Phase Ib started

Auxilium began an open-label, dose-escalation, U.S. Phase Ib trial to evaluate Xiaflex in 63 female patients ages 21-60 years. The product is marketed in the U.S. and EU to treat Dupuytren's contracture in adult patients with a palpable cord. Auxilium markets the product as Xiaflex in the U.S. for the condition, which affects joints in the hand. Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE, New York, N.Y.) has European marketing rights to Xiaflex from Auxilium, which has worldwide rights from BioSpecifics. Last year, Auxilium and BioSpecifics amended a 2004 deal to grant Auxilium rights to develop Xiaflex to treat edematous fibrosclerotic panniculopathy (see BioCentury, Sept. 5, 2011). ...
