GlaxoSmithKline, Brazilian Ministry of Health infectious news

GlaxoSmithKline received an eight-year, €1.5 billion ($2.2 billion) contract to supply the ministry with Synflorix pediatric pneumococcal vaccine for 13 million children annually. Each vaccination requires 2-4 doses. The price per dose will start at €11.50 ($16.80) and decline to € 5 ($7.30) over the duration of the contract. The price to European governments for the pneumococcal vaccine is €35-40 ($51.12-58.42) per dose. Synflorix contains 11 polysaccharide serotypes, each conjugated to Haemophilus influenzae-derived protein D, and has a dual mode of action against both Streptococcus pneumoniae and H. influenzae. ...
