Alzheimer’s Research U.K. launched Defeat Dementia, a L100 million ($169.8 million) five-year campaign to fund research on the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. The funding includes L30 million ($50.9 million) to establish drug discovery institutes in U.K. academic centers; L20 million ($34 million) to support Phase I and II trials of therapeutics; and L2 million ($3.4 million) for the group’s newly launched stem cell research center, a collaboration between the University of Cambridge and University College London. ...
