Amplidiag Oy, Genewave S.A.S., Mobidiag deal

The companies merged in a stock deal, with Genewave and Amplidiag becoming subsidiaries of Mobidiag. The newco combines Mobidiag's and Amplidiag's diagnostic test portfolios with Genewave's GeneSpress automated test platform. The combined company is headquartered in Helsinki and has a "center of excellence" in Paris. Mobidiag also received undisclosed funding in a financing round from existing investors Helsinki University Fund, iXLife, Tutor Invest and others. The company also received public funding from Finnish agencies Tekes and Finnvera and from the EU. Mobidiag's new CEO is Tuomas Tenkanen, the former R&D director of supply company Finnzymes Oy, which Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (NYSE:TMO, Waltham, Mass.) acquired in 2010. ...
