The White House unveiled new partnerships as part of its Cancer Moonshot Initiative, including a collaboration to fund precompetitive cancer research, the creation of a “formulary” to speed researcher access to cancer therapeutics for studies and the creation of a public-private partnership focused on computing. NIH will work with 12 biopharmas as well as research foundations, philanthropies and the Foundation for the NIH to create the Partnership for Accelerating Cancer Therapies (PACT).

The organization will fund precompetitive research in areas such as predictive modeling and platforms for clinical trials of combination therapies. NCI will work with 20-30 pharma and biotech companies to create a single “formulary” through which researchers will be able to obtain investigational and approved therapies, so researchers will no longer have to negotiate for access with companies individually.
