Regenerating islet-derived 3b (REG3B)

Mouse studies suggest inhibiting REG3B could help treat pancreatic cancer. REG3B expression has previously been shown to be greater in primary pancreatic tumors than in healthy tissue. In a model of murine pancreatic cancer, Reg3b deficiency decreased tumor growth, tumor vasculature density and metastases in the liver and intestines compared with normal Reg3b expression. Future studies could include identifying and testing REG3B inhibitors in mice with xenograft pancreatic tumors.
