Tumor necrosis factor-a-induced protein 6 (TNFAIP6; TSG6)

Mouse studies suggest TSG6 inhibition could help treat asthma. In a mouse model of acute allergic pulmonary inflammation, knocking out Tsg6 led to less pulmonary inflammation and lower airway hyperresponsiveness than what was seen in wild-type controls. Tsg6 knockout mice had lower levels of inflammation-associated hyaluronan and eosinophils in bronchoalveolar fluid than wild-type controls. Next steps could include examining the role of TSG6 in inflammation-associated pathways.
