Peripheral therapy for SMA

Researchers at Cold Spring Harbor and Isis Pharmaceuticals have shown that peripheral delivery of antisense therapeutics improved survival in a mouse model of spinal muscular atrophy. The results suggest delivering these therapeutics on both sides of the blood brain barrier could address the systemic effects of SMA.
