Mouse studies suggest IGF1R inhibitors could help treat AD. In a mouse model of AD, conditional knockout of IGF1R in the brain decreased the number of Aβ-containing autophagic vacuoles in neurons and amyloid plaque pathology in the brain and increased plasma levels of soluble Aβ and performance in memory tests compared with normal IGF1R expression. Next steps could include testing IGF1R inhibitors in mouse models of AD...
