Therapeutics: Histone deacetylase (HDAC)

Studies in patient samples and mice suggest the oral pan-HDAC inhibitor panobinostat could help treat diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). A screen of 83 approved drugs in DIPG cell cultures derived from 14 patients identified Farydak panobinostat as the most potent growth inhibitor of the compounds tested. In mice with orthotopic xenograft DIPG tumors, panobinostat decreased tumor growth and increased survival compared with vehicle.
