Ebola

Ebola virus vp30 (vp30); protein phosphatase 1 (PPP1)

Cell culture studies suggest a compound that increases phosphorylation of vp30 could be used to treat Ebola infection. In a human cell line infected with Ebola virus, pretreatment with the compound, dubbed IE7-03,
30 minutes before infection increased vp30 phosphorylation and dose-dependently decreased viral transcription compared with vehicle pretreatment, resulting in decreased replication of virus particles without affecting cell viability. Next steps include determining where 1E7-03 interacts with its target, the PPP1 catalytic subunit.
