Netrin 1 (NTN1) levels to predict invasive disease in medulloblastoma

Studies in vitro and in patient samples suggest NTN1 levels could help predict invasive disease in medulloblastoma. In medulloblastoma cells, siRNA targeting NTN1 or its receptors inhibited cell invasion without altering proliferation. Urine samples from patients with invasive tumors had higher NTN1 levels than samples from patients with noninvasive tumors or healthy subjects. Next steps could include validating the association between NTN1 levels and disease stage in larger patient cohorts.
