Biotechs rise, broader markets post another loss

Biotech indices posted modest gains on Tuesday, while broader indices ended the day in the red. The day started strong for all equities, although an afternoon slide reversed most of the progress.

The BioCentury 100 rose 51.10 to 6,590.78, with gainers outnumbering decliners 63 to 35. The NYSE Arca Biotechnology Index gained 33.17 to 3,602.25; the NASDAQ Biotechnology Index picked up 15.36 to 3,408.45; and the iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology Index was up 0.38 to 325.26. ...
