Trump to nominate Price, Verma

President-elect Donald Trump said Tuesday he will nominate Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) as HHS secretary, and Seema Verma as CMS administrator.

Price, who is chairman of the U.S. House Budget Committee, worked as an orthopedic surgeon for 20 years before his 2005 election to Congress. In the House, he has led efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act and has sponsored legislation that would replace it. Price’s plan would give individuals tax credits to purchase health insurance. He has opposed giving Medicare authority to negotiate drug prices, is a strong opponent of abortion and was critical of President Obama’s decision to ease restrictions on federal funding of research involving embryonic stem cells. ...
