CMS to expand value-based insurance model

CMS revealed plans to expand its Medicare Advantage Value-Based Insurance Design (MA-VBID) model, which is designed to reduce or eliminate co-pays for some items and high-value services in participating plans that cover patients with certain chronic conditions.

In the program's second year, beginning Jan. 1, 2018, CMS intends to add rheumatoid arthritis and dementia to the list of eligible conditions.
