ASCO voices concerns about treatment pathways

The American Society of Clinical Oncology issued a policy statement on Tuesday voicing concerns that clinical treatment pathways for cancer are "being developed and implemented today in a manner that may impede delivery of high-quality cancer care."

ASCO said cancer pathways are "not developed or applied consistently by insurers and other pathway creators" and said pathways' development process is not transparent. According to ASCO, that leads to "wide variations in quality and utility" and raises questions about whether pathways reflect the latest scientific evidence. ...
