HRSA expects 340B guidance next year

HHS's Health Resources and Services Administration said that it will not issue draft guidance on its 340B drug discounting program until 2015. The draft was expected in June.

The 340B program requires manufacturers to offer outpatient drugs at steep discounts to hospitals and clinics that provide healthcare for low income and other special populations. Stakeholders, including the AIR 340B coalition of individual companies and industry, patient, payer and physician groups, have criticized the program, claiming that it has gotten too large and that discounts and revenues are not being directed to the intended audience (see BioCentury, May 19). ...
