White House elevating Google veteran at PTO

The Obama administration continued to reinforce its ties to Silicon Valley with the nomination of Michelle Lee to be director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Lee, who also would be under secretary for intellectual property at the Department of Commerce, has been serving as deputy under secretary for intellectual property and deputy director of the PTO. She is the third Silicon Valley figure recently to be added to President Obama's key appointments in the innovation arena, following September's appointment of Megan Smith as U.S. chief technology officer and Alexander Macgillivray as deputy CTO. ...
