House E&C subcommittee to discuss incentives for drug development

The House Energy and Commerce Committee's subcommittee on health will hold a hearing June 11 to discuss the role of incentives in drug development as part of the committee's 21st Century Cures initiative. The E&C committee is holding a series of roundtables and hearings and is releasing white papers on ways to accelerate development and approval of drugs and devices under the initiative, which the committee unveiled in April.

Kathy Hudson, deputy director for science, outreach, and policy at NIH, and Reps. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) and Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) described the initiative's goals and discussed opportunities to improve scientific research on the June 1 edition of BioCentury This Week television (see BioCentury This Week, June 1). ...
