CVS launches specialty Rx program in retail stores

Pharmacy benefit manager CVS Caremark LLC (NYSE:CVS) launched Specialty Connect, a program that makes specialty drugs available at all 7,600 CVS/pharmacy stores. The program will allow physicians to send specialty prescriptions directly to CVS without referral forms, give patients insurance guidance and phone support and allow an option to continue to receive drugs by mail. According to the company, its pilot program increased the percentage of patients who were "optimally adherent" to their medication from 66% to 79%. ...
