PCORI finalizes advisory panel members

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute announced the panel members for its first four advisory panels, which the institute said will provide scientific or technical expertise and help identify and prioritize research questions for funding. The Patient Engagement advisory panel will help ensure the institute is "patient-centered in all aspects of its work," while the other panels -- Assessment of Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment Options; Improving Healthcare Systems; and Addressing Disparities -- align with three of the institute's priority areas.

There are five industry representatives on the panels, including Priti Jhingran and David Bruhn of the U.S. health outcomes department at GlaxoSmithKline plc (LSE:GSK; NYSE:GSK); Denise Kruzikas, a healthymagination director at the GE Healthcare unit of General Electric Co. (NYSE:GE); Marcia Rupnow, senior director of health economics and outcomes research at the Janssen Scientific Affairs LLC company of Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ); and Steven Blum, director of health economics at Forest Laboratories Inc. (NYSE:FRX). Panel members are appointed for one-year terms and can be appointed to a maximum of two terms. ...
