Commission calls for privacy protections in whole genome sequencing

The Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues released a report on Thursday that made several policy recommendations intended to protect individual privacy in whole genome sequencing data. The commission urged federal and state governments to create consistent privacy protections covering whole genome data regardless of how they were obtained, including prohibiting unauthorized sequencing without the consent of the individual from whom the sample came. ...
