Massachusetts neuroscience consortium launches

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and seven biopharma companies announced the formation of the Massachusetts Neuroscience Consortium to fund preclinical neuroscience research at the state's academic and research institutions. The companies will each contribute $250,000 to proposed projects, or $1.8 million in total. The first solicitation of project proposals is expected in the fall. The companies will also contribute data and other resources and collaborate with the institutions on projects. Results and technologies developed from projects will be shared between all participants and the consortium. Companies will determine their interest in validated targets as projects are completed.
