Kellogg shareholders reject anti-biotech proposal

Kellogg shareholders crushed an attempt to force the company to remove and/or label all genetically engineered ingredients used in the food company's products.

The Sisters of St. Joseph, a Catholic organization that has used shareholder initiatives as a tool to publicize grievances against the environmental and social policies of a number of multinational corporations, requested in a share owner proposal that Kellogg "adopt a policy of removing genetically engineered crops, organisms, or products thereof from all products sold or manufactured by the company, where feasible, until long-term safety testing has shown that they are not harmful to humans, animals, and the environment." ...
