Senate hears stem cell testimony

A Senate subcommittee held a rehearsal Wednesday for a debate on government funding of embryonic stem cell research that will take place on the Senate floor soon.

The Senate Appropriations Committee's subcommittee on labor, health and human services, education and related agencies heard testimony from scientists and celebrities who are strong advocates of government funding of embryonic stem cell research, as well as from a Senator, a Catholic disabilities activist and a former FDA Commissioner who oppose it. ...
