UCSF receives $500 million donation

The Helen Diller Foundation donated $500 million to the University of California San Francisco. The gift is the largest ever granted to the university.

The donation includes $100 million to retain existing professors and recruit new faculty, and $100 million to start a program for early and mid-career scientists. Another $200 million is for scholarships to students at UCSF's professional schools.
