Syros raises $30 million in A round

Syros Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Watertown, Mass.) raised $30 million in a series A round co-led by Arch Venture Partners and Flagship Ventures. WuXi PharmaTech Corporate Venture Fund and individual investors also participated. The funding announcement coincides with the publication of two papers in Cell from two of Syros' three scientific founders, which identified a new class of regulatory DNA regions upstream of genes that maintain cell identity dubbed "super-enhancers." Syros, which was founded last year, is mapping super-enhancer locations in cancer cells to identify new druggable oncogenic drivers and also plans to target the super-enhancers themselves. ...
