Regeneron gains after raising Eylea guidance again

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:REGN) gained as much as 12% early Wednesday before closing up 6%, or $7.40, to $128.84 after reporting the second full quarter of sales for Eylea aflibercept and raising guidance for the ophthalmic drug for the third time this year. Eylea, which was launched last November to treat wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD), recorded $194 million in net product sales for 2Q12. Regeneron now expects $700-$750 million in 2012 sales of the drug, up from a forecast of $500-$550 million announced in April. In February, the company had raised its guidance to $250-$300 million from its initial prediction of $140-$160 million in January (see BioCentury Extra, April 26). ...
