Tuesday market watch

Biogen (BGEN) fell $12 (18 percent) to $53 on Tuesday. After the market close on Monday, the company reported first quarter earnings that were $0.02 short of the $0.43 consensus EPS estimate (see BioCentury Extra, April 10). Excluding a gain of about $90 million ($0.36) from security sales, BGEN's diluted EPS was $0.41, compared to $0.29 in the first quarter of 1999. ...
