Not-for-profit research organization Sage Bionetworks (Seattle, Wash.) said Stephen Friend has stepped down as president to accept a health-related position at Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). Friend became Sage's chairman, and will continue to play a strategic role. Sage promoted Lara Mangravite to president from director of systems biology research. Apple did not respond to inquires regarding Friend's new title.
Metabolic company Caldan Therapeutics Ltd. (Glasgow, U.K.) named Philip Boyd CFO and Gerry Thomas COO. Boyd will continue as CFO at Oxford BioDynamics Ltd. (Oxford, U.K.) and Enterprise Therapeutics Ltd. (Falmer, U.K.). Thomas was senior director and head of R&D project management at the Prosidion Ltd. subsidiary of OSI Pharmaceuticals Inc., which Astellas Pharma Inc. (Tokyo:4503) acquired. ...
