Hirawat resigns as PTC president
Claudia Hirawat is resigning as president of PTC Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:PTCT). In a letter to staff, Hirawat said she would continue to consult for the company but has no immediate plans for the future and a timeline for her departure has not been decided. PTC, which has not yet named a successor, also reported financial results on Thursday. PTC reported a net loss of $25.1 million for the second quarter compared to a net loss of $14.6 million for the same period in 2013.
On Monday, the European Commission granted conditional marketing authorization to PTC's Translarna ataluren to treat nonsense mutation Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).
