Ruling reversal in Mycogen and Monsanto case

The California Court of Appeals reversed a 1998 verdict by the California Superior Court in San Diego that awarded $174.9 million in damages to Mycogen in a breach of contract suit against Monsanto (see BioCentury, March 23, 1998). In addition, Pharmacia (PHA) subsidiary Monsanto (St. Louis, Mo.) said the appellate court rejected Mycogen's claim that Monsanto should license to Mycogen genetically engineered germplasm instead of gene technology awarded under an earlier suit over a 1989 license agreement between the companies. ...
