PEB forms proteomics center

PE Biosystems (PEB) formed a proteomics research center at its PerSeptive Biosystems division (Framingham, Mass.). The center will combine technologies from PEB and sister company Celera (CRA) to develop protein information tools and services. Both companies are part of PE Corp. (Norwalk, Conn.).

As part of its proteomics initiative, PEB announced a collaboration with the University of Geneva to develop integrated proteomics systems. PEB will combine its mass spectrometry technology with the university's expertise in clinical and research applications. PEB also will collaborate with the University of Washington to develop proteomics chemistries and technologies. PEB will receive exclusive rights to commercialize the university's Isotope Coded Affinity Tags (ICAT) technology, which measures protein expression changes using mass spectrometry. ...
