Nexavar plus Tarceva misses OS endpoint in HCC

Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:ONXX) and partner Bayer AG (Xetra:BAYN) said Nexavar sorafenib plus Tarceva erlotinib missed the primary endpoint of overall survival vs. Nexavar alone in the Phase III SEARCH trial to treat unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Details were not disclosed. The double-blind, international trial enrolled 720 patients. Nexavar, an inhibitor of RAF1 and multiple receptor tyrosine kinases, is approved in more than 100 countries to treat liver cancer and advanced kidney cancer.
