Alnylam gains on Phase I data for TTR-mediated amyloidosis

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:ALNY) jumped $6.64 (53%) to $19.16 on Monday after reporting data from a Phase I trial of RNAi therapy ALN-TTR02 for transthyretin (TTR)-mediated amyloidosis. In 17 healthy volunteers, single ascending-doses of 0.01-0.5 mg/kg IV ALN-TTR02 led to dose-dependent reductions in serum TTR protein levels at nadir -- the point at which serum TTR levels were the lowest from day one to 28 -- of up to 93.8%. Additionally, Alnylam said that more than 50% of the reductions in serum TTR levels were achieved by day three in patients in the three highest ALN-TTR02 dose groups. ...
