J&J to present Zytiga data in neoadjuvant prostate cancer
Neoadjuvant therapy with Zytiga abiraterone plus leuprolide and prednisone led to a pathological complete response in 3 of 29 men with localized high-risk prostate cancer who received the combination for 24 weeks prior to radical prostatectomy. An additional seven men achieved a near pCR, defined as a residual tumor size of no larger than 5 mm. The data, from an open-label Phase II trial, will be presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting that starts June 1 in Chicago.
In 27 men who received leuprolide alone for 12 weeks followed by 12 weeks of the Zytiga/leuprolide/prednisone combination, one patient had a pCR and an additional three had a near pCR. The difference in pCR between the two treatment groups was not significant. ...
